2011 Johnson Creek Run for The Parks: 5K Run / Walk

The fourth annual Johnson Creek Run for the Parks 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Firemans Park (417 Union Street).

All proceeds from this event will be used to provide structured playground and sporting equipment (goals, nets, etc) for the parks and recreational opportunities in Johnson Creek.

Schedule

• 7:00 am: Registration starts at the Johnson Creek Community Center. All registrants will receive a souvenir bag and t-shirt.



• 8:00 am: The race starts and will run through the rolling streets of the Village.Walkers are welcome, too!



• 9:00 am: The 1/4 mile Kids Dash (ages 4 - 10) will be held immediately following the conclusion of the 5K Run.



• 9:30 am: Awards will be presented and then a pancake breakfast will be held.

Awards

• Medals will be issued to the top 3 male and female runners in each age group in the main 5K race.



• Participation ribbons will be issued to all Kids Dash racers with the top boy and girl in each age group winning a gift card from Nike Clearance Store.



• No awards will be issued for walkers.

Creek Hosted Successful Run / Results From the Race

The Village of Johnson Creek hosted its Third Annual Run for the Parks 5K and Kid’s Dash on Saturday, July 31st. The benefit raised over $7700 that will be used for park improvements within its four parks.

133 people of all ages took part in the races. The overall winner, Derek Johnsrud from Fall River, WI, ran the 3.1 mile course in record-breaking time of 15:57. The over-all female winner, Taylor Vinhal from Dousman, WI, came in at 20:13.

Jeff Constable, Race Director stated, “This event was successful not because of the decent racing weather, but because of the volunteers and sponsors. A big ‘thank-you’ goes out to the Johnson Creek Police and Johnson Creek EMS crews for making the course safe.” Volunteers from the Village of Johnson Creek were stationed around the course to direct runner traffic.

The Platinum Sponsor this year was Fort Healthcare. Gold Sponsors were Guld Construction and JWR Inc, both of Johnson Creek.

Silver Sponsors were Avon HiLife, Badger Bank, Carol O’Neil and the JC BULLS, Culvers of Johnson Creek, Dr. Dan Harvey- DDS, J&L Tire, Kaerek Homes, Kunkel Engineering, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates of Johnson Creek, Pioneer Roofing, Premier Bank, Schneider Printing, TDS, Thrivent Financial and UW Health Partners of Watertown. Bronze sponsors were Rural Insurance – Tim Hunn Agency and Performance Running Outfitters. Kwik Trip provided the Fruit and Water Stand and Guld Construction hosted the pancake breakfast.
